What Inspired Your Interests In History?

For many of us the answer is the same (or at least similar). It was a particular movie or movie franchise. For others it may be the influence of a loved one. But I am very interested to learn from others. What inspired your historical interests?

For me, it was very specifically Raiders of the Lost Ark. Yes, it was an Indiana Jones film. It was the 1980’s and while I had some interests with ancient Egypt, it was the Raiders film that truly kicked it off.

Every other weekend, a trip to the local library continued to fuel and encourage those interests.

Even spending some childhood summers in Greece (to visit family) added to it. There is something about the old world that allows one to see, live, breathe and eat history every single day.
