I imagine military groups, merchants, individuals, entire families leaving a now impoverished land looking for a new life. Think of the refugees today. Syrian refugees flooded into Europe and the Americas a few years back to escape political persecution and turmoil. Ukrainian refugees are doing the same today to escape the war. It was not too different 3200 years ago.
As for identification, the names are believed to reflect their area of origin and the group in which they are migrating with. There could have been a mix of ethnicities under each label but unfortunately, history did not preserve that detail. And yes, many groups likely traveled together and this is made apparent in historical inscriptions from both Merneptah and Ramesses III.
And you aren't wrong. Egypt was seen as the center of wealth. They all saw it as an opportunity to take advantage of Egypt's powerful position of the time.

That all makes very good sense. Petros, thank you. Thank you for responding and for all your hard work on each episode. You create a quality show. 😊
I should be recording/editing the next one VERY soon. Hint: it is about the oldest story every written.
